Deacon Nina began her ministry as deacon at St. Peter’s the day after she was ordained by Bishop Brewer in September, 2018. She and her husband have been members of St. Peter’s since 2010.
First and foremost in Deacon Nina’s life is to live into her Baptismal Covenant. In The Book of Common Prayer, the first question of our Baptismal Covenant focuses on the promises to worship regularly, be in the Word and in fellowship with other believers, and pray regularly. She strongly believes that neglecting her own spiritual life and relationship with the Lord for the sake of ministry is counterintuitive.
Deacon Nina’s ministry as a deacon starts with serving and loving the congregation. A congregation that does not feel they are loved will have a hard time offering love to others and going out into the world to love and serve the Lord, as the Great Commission commands (Matt. 28:16-20). There are so many weak, marginalized, sick, and lonely people in Seminole County who need believers to come alongside them to know what the love of Jesus looks like and to know about Him! Deacon Nina’s gifts lend themselves to serving those who live in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and, with a team of lay ministers, she brings Jesus to local assisted living facilities.
Deacon Nina graduated from the University of Florida College of Law, where she met her husband, Brian. Brian and Deacon Nina have two grown children. They enjoy scuba diving and bird hunting with their English Springer Spaniels.
