Karen is incredibly grateful for her husband, Steve. They will celebrate their 20th anniversary in November. They delight in raising their two boys, Grant and Luke. Both boys enjoy playing football and lacrosse. That is truly one of Karen’s favorite places to be…..cheering on her cuties! The Williams family bleeds orange and blue! Karen and Steve met and graduated from the University of Florida and they return each fall for a football game or two. Members of St. Peter’s Lake Mary since 1996, Karen has been on staff since 2008, originally as Ministry Coordinator and currently as Business Manager. Wendy Berghane

Preschool & Kindergarten Director

My journey into early childhood education began almost fourteen years ago with the premature birth of my son. With his birth, I immersed myself into the world of child development in hopes of giving him every opportunity to learn and grow at his pace and meeting his individual needs. Through that research and learning, I became fascinated with educating children in a developmentally appropriate manner and that fascination eventually led to an AS degree in Child Development and a BS degree in Education and Sociology from UCF. I marvel at how God used one of the most challenging and difficult events in my life to call me into the ministry of children and families.

I believe learning should be engaging, relevant, and fun. I work to make the classroom a safe place for exploration and growth according to each individual child and their needs. I also make it a priority to develop relationships with not only my students, but their families as well. An active member of St. Peter’s Church, I teach Sunday School and am a part of the Fellowship Committee.

I am married to Steve (pictured) and have two children, the youngest of which is a St. Peter’s Preschool alum!
