All Saints’ Day
Dear St. Peter’s Church,

On this All Saints’ Day, I am compelled to contemplate with you the saints of St. Peter’s, Lake Mary. I consider you saints, my church family, my church body, and my church home. How do you look at the saints of St. Peter’s?  Is St. Peter’s your church family? Your church body? And, your church home? If so, I encourage you to commit your support of time, talent and treasure with a pledge for next year. (Click to pledge online).

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians:

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”

What could it mean to be compelled by the Love of Christ? The Greek word sunechó is translated by different Bible versions in various ways, such as: constrains, keeps, holds, guides, controls, rules. The sense is that when our hearts are so captivated by the grace revealed in the cross of Jesus, we cannot help to be anything other than a people who live completely surrendered for Him! He died for us, and we the church are His bride surrendered unto Him!

Is St. Peter’s your church family? Then demonstrate your love for the Lord in and through St. Peter’s. Resolve to worship the Lord with your church family every Sunday. Your voice, your presence, your passion for Jesus is needed for the vibrancy of the corporate worship life of your church home. Come home to the Lord for the family meal, lest you get disconnected from the family of God—and by extension God himself.

Is St. Peter’s your church body? Then make a commitment to contribute the spiritual gifts and talents that the Lord has given you for the building up of the body in this faith-filled community. Your church body, St. Peter’s Lake Mary, needs you, and you need it. A body cannot function and grow without the engagement of all its members. Together we have a high calling to grow and serve as a diverse body under one head, Jesus Christ.

Again, is St. Peter’s your church home? Then may the Lord constrain your heart to give whole heartedly and generously to its vital ministries and missions. The Lord challenges you from the word:

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need”

(Malachi 3:10).

The Lord rarely invites his people to test his generosity, but here he does. Bless Him and His house by bringing the full tithe and see if He does not shower you with blessings.

As one constrained by the love of Christ, will you join me in making a pledge of your time, your talent and your treasure to the Lord and to your church family, your church body and your church home? Love the Lord as He loves His church. You can make your online pledge here.

I am faithfully yours in Jesus Christ our Lord,
Charlie Holt+
